Our Story
With a history going back to 1732, the main house, once a seminary to the 11th century church in Pujols is a typically Girondin property constructed from thick walls of local honey-coloured stone
The property as it exists today was shaped by the renowned French author Jean Cayrol, who, in the 1960s, brought the various buildings and four courtyards together to form a single estate. Living and writing here for many years, Cayrol drew inspiration from the property and its surroundings for several of his novels and other literary works.
Beginning of this century, the Clegg family carefully brought the property into the modern age. Through years of thoughtful renovation and stewardship, always with respect for its history and character, they preserved the spirit and hospitality of Maison Cayrol, welcoming many interesting guests along the way.
Today, our family continues this legacy with the same enthusiasm and commitment. Its interiors combine antiques and contemporary art with the charm of French country living, complemented by modern facilities. Located in tranquil surroundings, Maison Cayrol combines the charm of a historic home with a welcoming atmosphere that lends itself equally to relaxed stays, family gatherings, and memorable celebrations.
