Our Story

With a history going back to 1732, the main house, once a seminary to the 11th centurychurch in Pujols and a typically Girondin, is constructed of thick walls in the local honeystone.

The property as of today, is formed by the famous French author Jean Cayrol, who in the 1960s, brought all the buildings and 4 courtyards together. Living and writing here for manyyears, the property and surroundings gave Jean Cayrol great inspiration to several of his novels and writings.

A wooden basket filled with various fruits including apples, oranges, lemons, a pear, and a squash. Next to it, a silver pedestal bowl holds additional fruits such as oranges, a pear, and an apple. Behind the basket, a wooden cutting board leans against the wall, with a window with floral curtains visible in the background.
A cozy corner in a rustic home with two antique wooden chairs with padded seats, a small wooden table with a vase of pink and white flowers, a large rectangular mirror on the stone wall, and a view into another room with a grandfather clock and a fireplace.

Beginning of this century, the Clegg family brought the property up to a more modern standard and trough years of renovation and maintaining the property, with a historic respect, they also continued Maison Cayrols spirit and hospitality, hosting many interesting people.

Today our family has taken over and with the same enthusiasm we wish to continue the life of Maison Cayrol. Nested in the tranquil settings, this retreat offers an exquisite gateway for visitors seeking historic luxury and relaxation with a combined interiour where antiques and modern art meet french rural style and up to date facilities.
