Golf courses

Grand Saint-Emilionnais Golf Club is a beautiful golf course designed by the famed architect Tom Doak and highly suitable for golf enthusiasts. No more than 15 minutes away from Maison Cayrol this beautiful 18-hole course stretches out over pleasantly rolling hills and surrounded by forest and vineyards. The club house has a good restaurant to enjoy lunch with friends and family, golfers or non-golfers. We can also recommend other courses in the area like Golf Bordelaise (18 holes), Cabot Bordeaux (36 holes) or Golf De Teynac (18 holes) all with great hospitality. If you enjoy a refreshing swim in the Atlantic after a good golf match, you could try the Garden Golf De Lacanau.

The Dordogne River offers various activities to be booked. Quite a few companies offer different adventures like taking you up stream so you can glide back for a relaxing low effort activity enjoying the beautiful scenery and local birdlife. Try canoeing or kayaking, rowing, water skiing, fishing, swimming, or other river activities. Visit the Tourist office at Castillion and get inspired and received points of contact.

Wine Tours

Wine tasting is easy to arrange locally, either at smaller properties around Pujols or in the areas of Castillion, Bergerac and not forgetting the famous Saint-Emilion. In Creon there is a British run vineyard famous for producing wine for the chefs Gordon Ramsey and Rich Stein, who several times during their visit has stayed at Maison Cayrol. Of cause the Medoc peninsula with all its famed Chateau’s and areas is a must. You can drive on your own, or we can recommend booking a tour with Mathilde Pfeiffer. They are all worth visiting and tasting.
